Collection consists primarily of Schuller's manuscripts, research notes, and reprints about contemporary and ancient languages of Mexico and Central and South America. Manuscript about the Metlatzinka language of the ancient Maya Indians of Mexico contains transliterations of native words and their English meanings. Also, his research notes, on index cards, for his comparative and analytic dictionary of the Maya, K'ice, Carib, and Arawak Indian languages, 1912-1929. Collection also includes a manuscript about Sinka language of Guatemala, 1929; a list of the native languages of Latin American countries, and other manuscripts concerning Latin American languages and various aspects of early Latin American history; reprints of Schuller's papers; poetry about South America written in Spanish; news clippings, mostly pertaining to South America, 1930; photographic negatives of the famous collection of gold objects from burial places in Caldas, Colombia; and printed maps of Central American countries.
